Lovely, Rugged Lubec, Maine [Passamaquoddy Bay, Bay of Fundy]

Our Campsite & View!
When you look at a map of Maine, Lubec [pronounced Loo-beck] is the coastal town that is the furthest North and the furthest East.  In fact, it is known as the town that is the furthest most East in the US.  If you go North from Lubec, you cross a short bridge across the Passamaquoddy Narrows onto Campobello Island, New Brunswick, Canada.

Lubec has a rugged, unspoiled coastline.  The town’s primary fishing industry collapsed, and it is re-defining itself as a vacation destination.  The buildiOur ngs in the tiny center of town have been turned into hotels, B&B’s, restaurants, and shops.   At this point, few have discovered this glorious place, so it is uncrowded and naturally beautiful.  We are staying in the only campground in town [Sunset View Campground] and have breathtaking water views of bays and islands of Passamaquoddy Bay along 2 sides of the campground.

We had planned to stay for 3 nights, and extended our reservation to stay for a week.  There is a lot to do here, watch for more blog entries.!
